Grape seeds, from grapes used to make red wine, have been scientifically shown to help protect eyesight…
For example, in a major study published in the Journal of Cataract and Refractive Surgery…
Scientists concluded that:
“Routine consumption of grape seed extract in the form of food or dietary supplement may offer a prophylactic measure against onset and progression of cataract.”
Plus, according to the National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health…
Grape seed extract has been shown to help with “eye damage; vision problems, such as macular degeneration (which can cause blindness)…”
Now as I came across dozens of studies suggesting grape seed extract not only to be highly effective in helping improve vision…
But also helping many other conditions like cognitive decline, high blood pressure, and diabetes…
I started to get really excited…
However, what I still didn’t understand was…
Why was Grape Seed so effective at helping people with a variety of vision problems?
However, as I continued to research…
Not only did I get the answer to that question…
But I also discovered what seems to be the root cause of the vast majority of vision problems…
You see, it all happened when I came across a 2017 study, published in the journal of Oxidative Medicine and Cellular Longevity…
Where scientists concluded that “oxidative stress plays a pivotal role in developing and accelerating retinal diseases including age-related macular degeneration (AMD, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy (DR), and retinal vein occlusion (RVO).”
On top of that…
The study also mentioned that “an excess amount of reactive oxygen species (ROS)” to be behind this Oxidative Stress.
I had a vague understanding of what Oxidative Stress was…
And absolutely no clue what “Reactive Oxygen Species” was…
However, as I investigated them even more…
I realized they could very well be the sinister forces behind virtually all vision problems...
Here’s what I uncovered…
You see, I found that Oxidative Stress is a sort of “rusting process” that happens on the cellular level…
In fact, many leading medical experts call it “Cellular Corrosion” …
Because just like how corrosion destroys metals…
Corroding everything from pipes in your bathroom…
Metal bolts and lighting fixtures…
Even corroding parts of your car engine…
“Cellular corrosion” can corrode your ability to see…
From what the studies showed, Oxidative Stress was the driving force behind Cellular Corrosion that corrodes the health and function of cells…
And that includes the cells in your eyes.
But what on earth are Reactive Oxygen Species?
Well Reactive Oxygen Species… Or ROS for short…
Is a toxic build up of corrosive molecules that form due to exposure to everyday toxins.
According to dozens of studies…
The build up of ROS causes an imbalance between these corrosive molecules and your body’s ability to detoxify their harmful effect.
And when ROS builds up to a certain point…
Oxidative Stress can occur in the eyes.
Now what’s worse is that toxins found in plastic containers, processed foods, chemicals in our water…
As well as blue light radiation, which comes from LED light bulbs, cell phones, watching T.V., and computer screens…
All have been shown to promote ROS Build Up…
In fact, even the Sun emits blue light radiation…
Which means that unless you live in a cave with zero contact with the modern world…
It’s virtually impossible to escape from the negative effects of ROS Build Up...
At least that’s what a recent study published in the journal The Ocular Surface found when researchers concluded that:
“Daily exposure to sunlight and atmospheric oxygen challenges the eye with an intense burden of oxygen free radicals, making it highly vulnerable to oxidative damage. Generation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and resultant oxidative stress have been implicated in the pathogenesis of numerous forms of eye disease, including cataract, glaucoma, and macular degeneration.”
Meanwhile, in a 2016 study published in the American Journal of Therapeutics…
Scientists demonstrated that “the aging eye appears to be at considerable risk from oxidative stress. A great deal of research indicates that dysfunctional mitochondria are the primary site of reactive oxygen species (ROS).”
Plus, in another 2016 study, this one published in the journal Oxidative Medicine and Cellular Longevity, scientists directly linked ROS Build Up with “optic neuropathy”, “glaucoma”, “eye segment diseases in adults”, and “age-related macular degeneration.”
Light comes in through the lens…
Then projects an image onto your retina, which is located on the back of your eyeball… The image then travels along your optic nerve to your brain…
And this is where you actually perceive what your eyes see.
That’s how your vision is supposed to work…
However, when too much ROS Build Up occurs in your eyes…
It ignites the corrosive effect of Oxidative Stress…
Which could wreak havoc on virtually every part of the eye…
Like the lens, retina, and the optic nerve…
In fact, ROS Build Up might also cause inflammation in a part of the eye that’s called the “Uvea” …
And according to the National Eye Institute, inflammation in this vulnerable region of the eye can “slightly reduce vision or lead to severe vision loss.”
Plus, ROS Build Up may even reduce blood flow to the eyes…
In a major study published in the journal of Molecular Vision, researchers investigated the effects of ROS Build Up and blood flow and discovered that the “majority of glaucoma patients show signs of reduced ocular blood flow.”
Okay, so here’s the bottom line: when you have too much ROS Build Up your eyes suffer…
Which could be the very reason behind most types of vision impairment…
Especially considering that every day we’re exposed to toxins that promote ROS Build Up.
But what does this have to do with Grape Seed Extract?
Well it turns out Grape Seed Extract (or GSE for short) contains special compounds that combat ROS Build Up and help lower the risk of Oxidative Stress.
In fact, according to another major study, this one published in the journal Nutrition Research and Practice, these special compounds are called “polyphenols” and “have numerous important beneficial effects on oxidative stress, including inhibition of inflammation, and protection of cells and tissues from oxidative damage.”
On top of that, in a 2016 study published in the journal of Experimental and Therapeutic Medicine, researchers suggested these special polyphenols, found only inside Grape Seeds, to also protect the retina against “cellular death” caused by ROS Build Up.
Now if what these studies were showing was in fact true…
That would mean that polyphenols found inside the red wine you take during communion…
Could be protecting your vision from the horrible effects of ROS Build Up.
This got me thinking…
Are there other Biblical Ingredients that could help fight ROS Build Up in the eyes?
And do so without dangerous medications?
So that’s when I turned to the Bible…
And spent the next several months reading it from beginning to end…
In doing so…

I first came across this special berry when reading Isaiah 55:13 which said:
“instead of the brier shall come up the myrtle tree; and it shall be to the Lord for a name, for an everlasting sign that shall not be cut off.” – Isaiah 55:13
Now after seeing the Myrtle Tree mentioned numerous times throughout the Bible…
Like in the book of Zechariah…
As well again in the book of Nehemiah…
I knew I had to investigate it further…

The Myrtle Tree is not only a sacred plant that was used in Holy Ceremonies like the Feast of Tabernacles…
But it’s also apart of the Myrtus Communis species…
A close cousin to the Bilberry Tree, which has been scientifically shown to decrease ROS Build Up.
In fact, in a major study published in the Journal of Science of Food and Agriculture…
Scientists found that “bilberry extract showed a reduction of ROS levels.”
Plus, in another breakthrough study, this one published in the journal Laboratory Investigation…
Researchers concluded that “bilberry extract prevented the impairment of photoreceptor cell function” and “has a protective effect on visual function during retinal inflammation.”
On top of that, in a recent study published in the Journal of Medicinal Food, scientists discovered Bilberry to contain special compounds shown to “improve visual function.”
The next Biblical ingredient I want to share with you is actually a bright yellow and orange flower that grows abundantly throughout the Holy Land of Israel…
It’s called the Marigold Flower…
And it contains 2 special carotenoids that not only have been shown to combat ROS Build Up…
But also promote the health of the macula and retina of the eye…
The 2 carotenoids I’m talking about are called Lutein and Zeaxathan…
And unlike regular carotenoids…
They occur naturally in the eyes so your body naturally absorbs them better.
In fact, according to Harvard University researchers…
“Lutein and Zeaxathan are two nutrients found in the Macula, the area of the retina that gives us the sharp eyesight we need to read, drive, and recognizes the faces” of our loved ones.
Meanwhile, a new study from the journal of Investigative Opthalmology & Visual Science found that Zeaxanthin was “significantly associated with reduced risk of ARM (Age-Related-Maculopathy), nuclear cataract and (regular) cataract.”
And in another randomized, double-masked, placebo controlled study, published in the same journal…
Scientists evaluated the effects of Lutein on 126 patients with Age-Related-Macular Degeneration (AMD) for 6 months…
During the study they gave the participants Lutein or a placebo pill…
Then proceeded to measure the Macular Pigment Optical Density (MPOD)…
Which is essentially a measure of visual performance.
At the end of the 6 month study, they were shocked to find that “lutein significantly increased MPOD by 27.9%.”
On top of all of that, in a 2015 study published in the Journal of Ophthalmology, researchers concluded that the combined effect of Lutein and Zeaxanthin are “associated with lower risk of age-related macular degeneration (AMD)”
The the next set of Biblical Ingredients actually have to do with the second part of communion: The Holy Bread…
You see as I read the Bible, I couldn’t help but notice the bread they ate back then was very different from what most folks eat today…
Most breads today aren’t necessarily healthy because they’re highly processed…
And many contain allergens like gluten which can irritate your gut and wreck your digestion…
Now I would bet most modern breads actually harm our vision too.
However, the bread I was seeing in the Bible was actually very different than the breads we eat today…
From what I saw in the Bible…
Biblical breads were actually very healthy and may have had vision supporting benefits…
For example, in the book of Ezekiel chapter 4 verse 9 you’ll find the recipe for one of the most common Biblical Breads…
It says…
“Take wheat, barley, beans and lentils, millet and spelt, put them in a storage jar and use them to make bread for yourself.” – Ezekiel 4:9
I went ahead and investigated these ingredients…
And I was completely surprised when I found them to be packed full of vision supporting nutrients…
For example, lentils contain potent amounts of Riboflavin, Selenium, Vitamin C, and Beta-Carotene…
Which all have been shown to further promote the health and function of the eyes.
In fact, according to a major study published in the journal of Ophthalmology…
Riboflavin is “associated with reduced prevalence of nuclear cataract.”
Meanwhile, Harvard University researchers spent 6 years evaluating Beta Carotene’s impact on the eye retinas of 600 participants…
And were astonished when they observed that adults who supplemented with Beta Carotene…
“had on average about a 20% lower annual decline of remaining retinal function than those not taking (Beta Carotene).”
Plus, a common type of wheat used in Biblical times, called Buckwheat, contains another special compound called Rutin…
And according to a breakthrough study published in the journal Molecular Vision, Rutin may help prevent the formation of cataract cells.
Now as I continued to research…
I came across several additional ingredients that were showing a lot of promise not only for their ability to help support the health and function of the eyes…
But also reduce the damaging impact of ROS Build Up.

N-Acetyl-Cysteine: a potent amino acid that can be found in lamb, a common food from the Bible times…
It’s been scientifically shown to promote a powerful antioxidant called Glutathione…
(what scientists call the body’s “Master Antioxidant”)
And according to another major study published in the journal Molecular Vision, Glutathione may have a potent protective role against ROS Build Up.
Zinc: is an essential trace element and can be found in potent amounts in another Biblical Ingredient, Honey.
In a double-blind, randomized, and placebo-controlled study, published in the Archives of Ophthalmology, researchers measured the effects of zinc on the vision of 151 participants for 24 months.
Astonishingly, they observed that the group treated with zinc had “significantly less visual loss than the placebo group.”
